The Lover

a play in one act, written in

1962, by Harold Pinter

author of The Caretaker

and The Birthday Party.

Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter toys with our

senses in an understated masterpiece. It is

typically off beat, a saga with a warped

conclusion. Married couple, Sarah and

Richard from Berkshire are unusually

tolerant of each otherís lovers in this

unexpected tale of a marriage.

The Lover is followed by a comic sketch,

Trouble in the Works, written in 1959 also

by Pinter. Fibbs, the factory foreman is

visited by Wills, a representative of the

work force who tells him how his pet

machine parts are causing serious trouble.
